Robert Earl was the fifth child of Newton Berry and Daisy Elizabeth (Halford) Bloodsworth. He was born on April 29, 1926 in Escambia Co. Alabama and died on July 20, 1955 in Luvern, Crenshaw Co. Alabama at the young age of 29 due to a unfortunate hit and run accident. (see newspaper article below). He is buried in the Elizabeth Cemetery with his mother, 2 siblings and sister-in-law. Earl was never married.
Officials Probing Death At Luverne (Newspaper)
Luverne, Ala, July 20, 1955
A 29- year- old McKenzie man, found unconscious near the high-way seven miles south of Luverne this morning, died of injuries today soon after removal to a hospital here. He was identified by Deputy Sheriff Mallie Ball as Earl Bloodsworth. Bell said the young man had apparently been hitchhiking from Georgia to his home at McKenzie. Bloodsworth suffered severe head injuries. An investigation was being made to determine if he was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.
