Newton was the twelth child of Newton Berry and Ellen (Baggett) Bloodsworth. He was born Febuary 28, 1904 in Wallace, Escambia Co. Alabama and died on October 04, 1957 in Alexander City, Tallapossosa Co. Alabama at age 53 and is buried in the Elizabeth Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Newton married Katie Louise Hester (1903-1988) on June 6, 1924 in Butler Co. Alabama. She is the daughter of Jasper W. Hester & Frances Lucretia Boyette of Butler Co. Alabama. Newton and Katie had 4 children together, 2 boys and 2 girls.
